Zann Welcomes News of ecoNova Scotia Funding for Colchester Legion Stadium
July 15, 2010
(Truro, NS) – NDP MLA Lenore Zann is pleased that the Municipality of Truro will receive $138,457 from the EcoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change to make improvements to the Colchester Legion Stadium.
“The stadium has long been a place where families can go to watch games and get healthy on the ice. I myself learned to skate there.” says Zann. “Now this funding will help keep families healthy off the ice as well - by helping Truro do its part to protect the environment.”
With this investment the rink will install a system to recover heat from the existing refrigeration plant to supply heat to the arena’s flood water, as well as replace the facility’s existing boiler system and install a low-emission ceiling system.
Earlier today at the Lafarge cement plant in Brookfield, Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau announced that 10 projects across Nova Scotia had received over $2.4 million from the ecoNova Scotia Fund for Clean Air and Climate Change.
